Links rewriting mysteriously
When I add a link to a document that is at a particular LAN location, it
seems to be OK until I save the document, at which time the link is convertied from something like this: \\ServerName1\ShareName1\FolderName1\DocName.pdf to gibberish: .../../../ShareName/FolderName/DocName.pdf The server name is replaced by the slashes and dots, and the back slashes are changed to forward slashes as it if is an internet link rather than a LAN link. The number of ../ combinations seems to be the number of steps below the server name. If I drill down through several subfolders, there are that number of ../ combinations (or maybe one more than that number). This only happens when I save the document in a network share. Any save causes the hyperlink to be rearranged. In My Documents I can go through the same steps with no adverse effects. If I copy that file to the network share, all is well as long as I do not edit it there. When I click Edit Hyperlink after the conversion to gibberish I see that the spaces in the path and file name have been replaced by "%20", if that is of any help. |
