Default Word and footer issues.

When Im about to close a document (Word 2003) €“ at the bottom of the doc. I
go in to €˜insert, €˜auto text and then €˜header and footer and the next
window does not open to allow me to put in €˜file name and path, it shows a
blank square where the drop down box should be. Any help would be great.

Default Word and footer issues.

This is usually an indication that a document has been saved as Normal.dot.

It says it is a word doc. What is my next step to resolve the issue?

What I meant was that a document (or user-created template) has been saved
in place of Normal.dot, not that the document you are dealing with has been
saved as Normal.dot. With Word closed, find Normal.dot and rename it. When
you restart Word, it will create a fresh copy that will contain the AutoText
entries. For help in locating Normal.dot, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...ocNotBlank.htm.
