Build an Index
I have marked a number of headers in my document for inclusion in my Index.
I then clicked on Insert, Reference, Index and Tables - selected my template and clicked OK. This does not appear to do anything. I am expecting to see an Index at the end of my document but there is nothing there. How do I get Word to Build the Index? |

Build an Index
Well, let's clarify. "Headers" are not included in either an index or a
table of contents. "Headings" are automatically included in a TOC (without being marked). To create an index, you must mark index entries (create XE fields). I'm not clear on what you did when you "selected my template." Can you clarify exactly what you marked, how you marked it, and whether you were attempting to create an index or a TOC? -- Suzanne S.
