Merging data from Access works fine, but when I click Preview Results in
Word, nothing happens. If I Finish & Merge and "Edit individual records," it
all works fine.

All you should expect from preview is that mergefields that are
surrounded by chevrons

myfieldname

will display preview data. If there are Next record fields in the
document, the preview data will be from more than one record in the data
source.

But if for example you have set up a Directory type merge, the preview
does not actually show you the output you would expect filling up page
after page. Also, if you move records, all that happens is that the
preview starts filling the page with data from the record you selected.

If your merge field codes are showing as

{ MERGEFIELD myfieldname }

then you may not see any change at all - try using Alt-F9 to display
"field results" instead of "field codes", then try the preview.
