Design Mode Icon
Hi
I have crerated forms which are opened via a clinical system (mail merged). I am using XP Word 2003 Service Pack 2. However when i open the form it goes into Design Mode everytime. How can i stop this from occuring? I have used check Boxes in the form, and when it opens in Deaign Mode the check boxes become un-usable. The users are having to click on "Exit design Mode" for the form to be fully functioning. The form is saved in .rtf format as this is the only file extension that is recognised by the clinical system. PLEASE HELP! Warm Regards M |

Either the checkboxes you used were from the Control Toolbox instead
of the ones from the Forms toolbar, or you have included other items from the Control Toolbox. Those controls are what cause the document to open in design mode when macros are disabled by the macro security mechanism. Get rid of them, and use only the items from the Forms toolbar. In turn, that means the form must be protected (http://www.computorcompanion.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=22) to make the form fields operate. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. The form needs to stay un-protected because users have to type on the form
too and this causes them hassle when working through the form (ackward target group of 200 users). The process needs to be as effortless as possible. Read the series of forms tutorials. I think you'll find you can do what you
want with a protected form (you can leave some sections unprotected). -- Suzanne S.
