Smart tags
In word 2003 when I would type certain words or phrases such as "To Whom It
May Concern" when I would get about half way through the word a little gray box would pop up with the rest of the text. If I hit enter it would fill in the phrase for me. Or I could ignore it by simply continuing to type. Word 2007 does not seem to have this option. Can someone tell me how to turn this on, if it does exist. Does it have a name? I think it is called smart tags but I am not sure. |

In Word 2003, the AutoText feature included the popups, which were called AutoComplete. (Then there was/is AutoCorrect, which is yet another unrelated feature.) In Word 2007, AutoText is still present but has been made just one part of a larger feature, called either Quick Parts or Building Blocks, depending on where you click. However, the AutoComplete popups have been removed except for dates. You can still type part of the name of an AutoText entry and then press F3 to insert the entry, but Enter doesn't work any more. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
