Default How to copy results of one form field to another

I have exhausted the online help and a couple different approaches trying to
figure this out. Does anyone know how to copy the results of one form field
into one or more other form fields?

I have run into this need a couple times where data is entered on one page
but I want it copied to another page in case the two are separated after
printing.

I figured out how to add a REF field that will include another form field's
contents - once the REF field is updated. But other than setting an option to
update all fields when printing, I can't figure out how to update other
fields upon exiting the input field. To complicate things, I'm putting the
REF field in a footer and you can't record a macro or SELECT ALL when a
document is protected for forms.
