Endnotes Word 2003 End of document placement mid-page
I am using Word 2003 under XP Pro. I am using Endnotes with no problem except
that the first endnote starts after 17 greyed out paragraph marks that follow the short-line beginning. I cannot delete those paragraphs, I can't insert new page before the first endnote. I really don't want to see the endnotes starting inexplicably in the middle of the page. I've tried doing a section break just after the first line of the page (which says "Appendix"), but I still get the 17 ghost paragraphs. Any ideas how to get rid of those so that the first endnote will start at the top of the page? Thanks for any help. Michael |

it sounds like the paragraph marks are attached to the Endnote
Separator. See #5 here for how to clear them: 5. Random Lines Appear http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/footnotefaq.htm montereyham wrote: I am using Word 2003 under XP Pro. Endnotes Word 2003 End of document placement mid-page
Perfect!! It worked like a charm. I actually had read note 5 before, but
somehow didn't understand it. But you explanation was just right on. Many thanks. (As you can tell, I feel a great sense of relief.) I note that sometimes extra paragraph marks get inexplicably thrown into my headers and footers, and I bet the same thing that produces those is throwing them into the Endnotes Separator. I clear them out of the Headers and Footers as they occur, but they probably just built up in the Endnotes. Again, thank you. Michael |

Endnotes Word 2003 End of document placement mid-page
Glad to help. I have no idea about the cause. With headers and
footers, it's easy to paste in a line that brings along an extra para mark, though. Note 5 doesn't focus on the "extra para marks" problem (it's a just a throwaway comment at the end), so it would be easy to miss its relevance to this. Daiya montereyham wrote: Perfect!! Actually, the extra CRLFs in the header and footer are not from pasting. I
will not even have gone to the header and footer, and suddenly I notice the footer's grown to 20 lines. I think it has something to do with styles and formatting, or perhaps from generating a table of contents. As I wrote, I'm now used to going into headers and footers and stripping out the CRLFs, but the Endnotes was new to me. Great to have your help. "Daiya Mitchell" wrote: Glad to help.
