Can you turn off Smart Tags globally?
We have no use for Smart Tags within our firm, and we would like to disable
them via group policy or some other easy way for everyone. Does anyone know any way of doing this? |

Can you turn off Smart Tags globally?
If Office is instlled on individual workstations I don't know of an easy way
to invoke any sot of "group policy", but it's easy enough for the users to do: *Turn off all smart tags* On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the Smart Tags tab. Clear the Label text with smart tags check box. Thanks for your reply.
I am aware that they can indeed be turned off adhoc by people, but in a large organisation it is not viable to do this. There must be some way of doing this surely?! |

Can you turn off Smart Tags globally?
Yes, it's a registry setting. You can do it with an .MSI script.
See the Office Resource Kit for details: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX011417911033.aspx Cheers On 7/3/06 2:13 AM, in article , "JayBL" wrote: Thanks for your reply. Hi Jay:
I know the problem. Sorry... "One" of us has to read the whole thing. Rather it be you... You need the bit about how to change user install options with an .msi script, and the bit about what the registry options are called and which keys they are in. Note: This is a steep learning curve if you've never done a customised network installation before. It might take you two weeks of study to figure it out. Better to hire a professional Office System Administrator to show you how. A professional that already knows how could do it for you in half an hour... Much cheaper!
