Default Word asks to save changes even if you haven't typed anything

Why is it that when you open a word doc and dont do anything except view or
scroll through the doc and try to close it Windows asks you if you want to
save changes made? And why does it happen only for some files and not others?

Wow, they dropped the ball on that article. There's nothing about
removing smart tags from documents that are already created - only how
to prevent them in new documents.

If you want to remove the smart tags: open the document exhibiting the
behavior, open the Tools/AutoCorrect Options dialog, select the Smart
Tags tab, then click the "Remove Smart Tags" command.

assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
