Default mis numbering captions (figures only)

hello,

I am using word 2000 on windows XP. I have a 200 odd page thesis about to
be submitted and my captions have started misnumbering. This only seems to
happen with figures the format I am using has chapter numbers included and
now only odd numbers are coming up e.g. in chapter 3, figure 3.1, figure
3.3, figure 3.5 but no 3.2, 3.4 etc.
I don't know if this is related, but the tracking changes feature was
accidentally turned on and since then this problem has appeared. Can any one
help???

If you tracked changes that would have changed the numbers of the equations,
then Word may not sort them out properly until all changes are removed from
the doc, so that definitely may be related.

See here for how to remove changes:

Thanks for your help I rejected corrections and it seems to have returned as
normal. My partner had switched on this option when editing a document and
somehow my document that was open was affected I think.
