Default formatting text copied from the internet

Often, when I copy text from the internet into MS Word, the text appears as
though there is a very large right margin on the page which I have been
unable to override. Even if I set the margin to 1.25 the text still only
occupies about 2/3 of the page width. So far, my only recourse has been to
(a) set a 1.25 right margin and (2) go manually to the end of EACH line and
hit DELETE to bring the lines of text togethe.

I'm sure that there is a better and less tedious way to do this but I
haven't been able to find it!

Thank you for your help!
