Tracking: removing identities, but not completely
We would like to send out Word docs to authors with referees' comments
(ie tracking on), but with the referees' names replaced by Referee 1, Referee 2, etc. I know that you can anonymise the comments, but we want to preserve the distinct "voices". We're running Word XP. |

Hi Owen,
We would like to send out Word docs to authors with referees' comments (ie tracking on), but with the referees' names replaced by Referee 1, Referee 2, etc. I know that you can anonymise the comments, but we want to preserve the distinct "voices". We're running Word XP. You mean, like replace the reviewer's names with "1", "2", etc.? And not expect the Reviewers to change their User info settings in Word before reviewing? Then the only chance would be to save the document in full HTML format (round-trip). Open the resulting HTML file, and use Find/Replace to substitute the information. Start with a really small, test file, to see what I mean.
