Default Insert file with icon into an existing document

I can't figure out how to insert a file into another document without either
dumping the contents into the document or a hyperlink. I'm trying to insert
the file like you would an e-mail, as an attachement.

Click Insert Object, and choose the Create from File tab. Browse to the
file you want to insert. Check the box "Display as icon" but don't check
"Link to file". Click OK.
