Has anyone found a way to copy another person on the mailmerge?

If you are using Outlook, you could use MAPILab's Mailmerge toolkit add-in
for Outlook http://www.mapilab.com/outlook/mail_merge/ when merging to
e-mail this permits cc, bcc, attachments, the choice of e-mail account etc.
Not free - but very handy if you are merging to e-mail.
