Default get rid of auto-formatting in Word

i spend hours making a page exactly as it has to be. When I try to print or
save the document - Word re-formats it. Is there any way of killing this
feature? I am getting to where all I can use is WordPerfect because of this.
The University and Journals require specific formatting for documents and
Word always decides to change what I have spent hours alligning exactly how I
need it. All I (and everyone I have talked to about this problem) want is an
Off switch for this useless feature.

Thank you. I will try the macro. I hope it works. I still want Microsoft to
put an Off switch in the program. It must cost this University over a million
dollars a year for people having to force Word to do things the way they have
to be. Auto-formatting is a stupid feature unless you only work on a single
type document.

there's code for a macro on that page that switches off all the
autoformat-as-you-type options ... brilliant. I've sent it to everyone I work
with.
