I'm trying to create a simple table with just headings in five separate
columns. This table should have about 20 rows. The rows show up on the screen but do not print. Any suggestions? I also want to had a separate heading at the very top. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks! |

I think you're wanting borders; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/Gridlines.htm and http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/Borders.htm. As for "a separate heading at the very top," if by this you mean a title or table caption, this can be place above the table or in another row added to the top (with cells merged). If the latter approach is used and the row containing the headings (now the second row) is marked as a heading row, then the caption row will also have to be a heading row and will repeat on any additional pages. Dog lover,
Are the lines just grey? If so, select your table and apply a border to it, you can use the borders and tables toolbar. There is a button next to the paint bucket if you click the little arrow next to it you will be able to apply a border to all lines of the table. As to the seperate row. Put your cursor in the second row, choose Table - split tables. That will result in two separate tables. Split the table when you have completely finished the formatting of your table. If you feel there is too much space between the two parts, select your paragraph marker and apply a font size of 4 to 6 points. Alternatively you could add an extra row under your title row and apply a no line border to the left and right of the row. Then you can apply an exact row height in the table properties dialog.
