Default How can I get rid of the complete lines at the end of the page?

Sometimes I get complete lines at the end of a page: usually there is a
footnote on the preceeding page. Why does this happen? And How can I get rid
of them?

The line you see is the Footnote Continuation Separator. If no portion of
the footnote is continued on the next page, check to make sure that you
haven't pressed Enter at the end of the footnote text, creating an empty
paragraph.
