Default Save and Save As Button not working

Hi, I have a problem with the Save and Save As button. I can see them on the
menu bar but when I hit them nothing happnes. It just does nothing.
Has anyone seen anything like this before with MS Word 2003.
Appreciate a respone or a direction to where it may be answered before.

Default Save and Save As Button not working

If, as a troubleshooting step, you start Word in Safe mode (hold Ctrl as you
start the application), then do the commands work properly?
