Default Insert Auto Text option shadowed out on headers/footers toolbar

I am using MS Word 2003 on an XP system. Suddenly, when I go into
headers/footers, the Insert AutoText option on the toolbar is "shadowed out"
and I can't use it.

Try renaming your normal.dot template as described in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...ocNotBlank.htm .
