Can I place a checkbox in a header? I am using Word 2003.

It rather depends what you have in mind. You cannot put a form field check
box in a header, but if you want to put a checked box character in a header you can do that, provided you are willing to open the header in order to check it. Checkbox in header
I'm guessing that you are referring to a *clickable* check box, such as a
