Default The delete key is not functioning

Dear people,
The delete key is not funcitoning. Have to use the backspace key to delete.
I was brushing up my Word skills and I must have done something wrong to
make the key dysfunctional. I like to know the solution.
Thank you.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two boxes for
WordPerfect help and navigation | OK.
