Default check box & lock

I put in check boxes in a form that I have to send out to clients, but the
form also has areas where they need to type and when it the document is
locked it doesn't allow typing in those areas (there are lines for them to
type on). Is there anyway that the boxes can be checked while still allowing
the rest of the document to be accessible?

First, you can put text formfields in where you want them to type. This is
the simplest method. The next method would be to put in section breaks and
protect only those sections you wanted to not be changed.

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

Hope this helps,
