Default Update Date Field When Document Opens

How can I make the date field update every time I open a document?

The help menu says check "Automatically Update" in the Insert Date dialogue
box, but that doesn't seem to work for opening the document, (perhaps only
printing it?)

I could write a small macro for Sub AutoOpen () with a select all and then
update, but isn't there an easier way?

Hello SF -

That method inserts a DATE code which does automatically update when the doc
is Previewed or Printed. If you want to 'force' the updating you can either
select the date/all and press F9 or rt-click the date and choose Update Field.

I think you are using a document when you should be using a template with a
CreateDate field in it. http://addbalance.com/usersguide/template.htm and
