Default microsoft word will not start up

Microsoft Word won't startup when I switch my computer on. The logo and bar
come up on the screen, but it then just stays there and doesn't open up.

I have tried the "last known good configuration" option but the same thing
hapens.

Am able to work in "safe" mode at present.
