Default Replacing a "rectangle" character in a list

I exported a document from a business plan program to Word 2002. I get
some lists with "bullets" that look like an open rectangle that's
taller than wide in front of each phrase on the line. I want to replace
these with spaces or nulls. When I select and copy the character into
the Replace dialogue, the character is not found in the document. How
can i do it? What might that character be?

If I try to "unbullet" the list or change the bullet via the Format
menu, the strange character remains.

when is paste one line of the document here, the rectangle shows as a
black, round bullet!!

Does the rectangle print? In many cases, such a character is Word's "I can't
print this" symbol for a character that is, for whatever reason, unavailable
to the current printer. Often it doesn't print. You can change the bullet as
part of the paragraph/style formatting. Use Format | Bullets and Numbering
to change the bullet character for selected text.

Didn't try to print the document as it was in Word or BPlan. I could
apply the bullet format, but it just adds my bullets in front of the
strange characters. I end up deleting the characters one by one and
then applying bulleting. I didn't want to have to do that because it's
tedious, but it works and I did. (smile) I won't be using the business
plan software again anyway; I can do a better plan from scratch just in
Word, which I love anyway.

In that case the bullet has been added manually. Your procedure is about all
that can be done, though it could probably have been expedited by using Find
and Replace to find the character, delete it, and apply a style such as List
Bullet.
