I have the following phrase in my Word 2000 document:
Title: Change Management
This whole phrase was set to Normal by the original author. I now want to
create a new style called "Title" and apply it to the words "Change
Management". This way, I can insert a reference in another part of the
document to this Title style.
I have no problems creating the "Title" style but can't seem to apply it to
the words. The words are still tagged to the Normal style.
Any help?

Did you setup the style as a Character style? I seem to recall that you
couldn't assign a Paragraph style to a part of a paragraph in that version.
I think you will also find that Title is a built-in paragraph style, so you
would probably be better using a unique name such as MyTitle or DocTitle or
whatever.
You should then be able to apply the character style to the words.
Unfortunately I no longer have access to Word 2000 to check the mechanics of
the process.

Assuming that I remember correctly, you could apply a paragraph style to
selected characters in Word 2000, and the result was that Word applied the
character formatting of the style (as direct formatting) to text.
