Does anyone know where I can download a font similar to what architects use
on blue prints?

What is it called?

Try a Google search for blueprint fonts. The is more than one.

There are many fonts that fit your description, but a free one that I've
used is Architext from http://www.1001freefonts.com/fonts/afonts7.htm .
