Default Thesaurus and paste in Search

Two pet peeves of mine:

1/ right click on a word in ffotnote or on a word in HEADING style (and
there may be other cases but I did not try them all) does not show
"synonyms". You have to select the word and type shift F7 for that.
2/ If you copy a sentence or a word , then go to the window "search", you
cannot right click and get "paste" to insert what you want to search for; you
have to type shift insert.

Why is that? An overlook?

As to (2), Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V work for Copy and Paste across all Windows
applications and in all dialogs.

And for (1), you can add the item to the right-click menu for footnotes as
follows:

- Open the Tools Customize dialog and click the Toolbars tab.
- Put a checkmark next to "Shortcut Menus", which displays a floating
toolbar.
- On the toolbar, click Text. In the dropdown, use the arrow at the bottom
if necessary until you can click the Text item, opening its submenu.
- Hold down the Ctrl key while you drag the Synonyms item from that submenu
to the Footnotes item; when its submenu opens, drop the Synonyms item into
it at the desired spot.
- Close the Customize dialog and save the Normal.dot template when you close
Word.

For pictures, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...oToToolbar.htm.

I always see the Synonyms item on the right-click menu in headings, so I
don't know why that isn't working for you.
