Letterhead Template
Created new *.dot (MS Word 2002) Letterhead Template.
Centered at top of page is graphic (inserted from file) Centered below that is return address (4 lines text) Centered below that is date - entered as "Field" All items up to this point utilizing "Style 1" (newly created) Change to "Style 2" (only difference is font size) Typed "Dear" (no quotes) Saved As template with *.dot file format in Template folder (default) Try as I might (and I've tried almost 50 times nowg)....I can't get the new document to open from the dot template with the cursor after the "Dear" (as in Dear | ) with the " | " being the cursor. Cursor ALWAYS defaults to bottom left corner of the graphic. What am I missing? TIA pf |

You need to put your actual letterhead in the document header; see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/Letterhead.htm. If you include the date in the header, then you'll be where you want to be. Otherwise, you can insert a bookmark at the place where you want to start, record a macro of going to that bookmark, and name the macro AutoNew, making sure that you save it in the document template (not Normal.dot). -- Suzanne S. Letterhead Template
As Suzanne said, you want to put your letterhead material in the first-page
header (and footer possibly). In my template I use a click-and-type macrobutton field prompt for where someone is to start typing. An AutoNew macro goes to that field. See http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide...tm#MacroButton and http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/TblsFl...acroButton.htm for more about macrobutton fields. Note, the date should be inserted using a CreateDate field, not a Date field. http://addbalance.com/word/datefields1.htm. Take a look at: How to set up letterhead or some other document where you want one header on the first page and a different header on other pages. http://www.addbalance.com/word/headersfooters.htm This gives step-by-step instructions. Letterhead Template
I use a UserForm to fill in Inside Address and Salutation, with a GoTo to
place the IP at the beginning of the first text paragraph. Although I'm probably up to coding that much functionality (with help), I use Bill Coan's DataPrompter add-in to facilitate this, and I highly recommend it. -- Suzanne S. Letterhead Template
ssb;
Worked like a charm - thanks so much. Used the bookmark/macro option due to some physical restrictions on the part of the end users. (Just easier for him to modify if need be) Thanks too for the quick reply. I'll be busy the next few minutes wiping the "egg" from face....g pam "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote in message ...
