Default File, Open, My Recent Documents?

In word, when I want to open a file, how do I make it display My Recent
Documents, when I do File Open?

Related questions, when I open My Computer, how do I make it display Control
Panel first?

Not really sure you'll like the results, especially if you accidentally
store documents there, as that folder contains only shortcuts to documents
[usually] stored elsewhere.

That said... My Recent Documents is usually something like the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Recent

In my case, for example, the location is:

C:\Documents and Settings\Herb\Recent

If you choose Tools - Options - File locations, and set the Documents
location to that (your corresponding folder) location, then File - Open will
default to that location each time Word is opened, until you explicitly
navigate to a different folder.

For the word question, I am only asking when I go into File Open, not when
I open Word in the beginning.

2. My Recent Documents lists about 20 of the most recent files you visited.
