Default How do I select text from a certain point in Word to the end?

I can place the cursor at a point, hold Cntrl and then drag to the the end in
order to select text, and then just hit the Delete key. I am taking first
bits of very long documents, and then having to delete the rest (which takes
a long time to scroll through the remainder of the document), so: Is there a
combination of keystrokes in Word to simply select (highlight) from wherever
the cursor is to the end of the document, so that pushing Delete then will
get rid of the highlighted text? TIA.
