Default Formatting Columns Cells Independantly

I'm trying to format my resume from a Word installed template.
The template uses a two column table. I can format the cells in the 2nd
column indepenantly, but any formatting I do in the first column applies to
all the cells in that column.

How do I turn this off so that some cells in that column are left justified
and some are right justified and maybe some have a different format size????

Thanks,
In advance.

Hi LynxSL,

I suspect the first column in your table is using a Word style whose attributes are set to 'automatically update'. You can change
this behaviour by selecting the text in one of those cells, then using Format|Style and unchecking the 'automatically update'
option.

Thanks for the help.
But I'm Using the latest version of Word ( with the ribbons).
And I can't find the format|style options. There is a style portion of the
Home ribbon, but I can't find this "automatically update" option on that.

Click the dialog launcher (arrow in the bottom right corner of the Styles
group) to open the Styles task pane. Then right-click on the relevant style
and choose Modify. The ensuing dialog has a check box for "Automatically
update."
