Default When I start Word 2000, I don't get a blank page

When I start Word 2000, instead of getting a blank page I keep getting a
previous document always opening up. How do I correct this?
Thank you,

Thank you Suzanne,
It worked, but for some reason I had to copy and create a new shortcut icon
on my desktop from the new Normal.dot file in the Explorer/Find window. The
old Word icon still brings up the old document. Should I just delete the old
icon?

I guess so, but you might consider whether there's more than one copy of
Normal.dot on your system.
