Default superscript autocorrect?

is it possible to get word to auto correct m3

to

m3 but the 3 is superscript? like when you type 1st, 2nd 3rd etc


i know i can use the ctrl+shift+plus sign (should not have to)

Yes, by typing m3, formatting it the way you want it, and then saving it
as a formatted autocorrect entry.

....and how does one do that? i have opened autocorrect options and tried to
save as formatted, but no dice...

"How" depends on what version of Word you have, which you don't say.
