Default Copy Table from Doc to Doc

Word 2002 sp3 on WinXP sp2. I need to copy a table from one document and
paste it, preferably with the data, into another document. Sounds simple but
it's starting to appear that this isn't a simple copy and paste operation. Am
I missing something? Thanks.
