Default Protect a table layout

Hi,
I'm trying to protect a table layout which has been created in word,
but want to be able to edit the text within the tables colums and rows
I've tried to fix the column width, but that doesnt work, any ideas?

To prevent the table from resizing, if that's what you are trying to do,
also specify a fixed height for each row (Row tab of the Table Properties
dialog box).

Which options did you select? Note that when you choose "Specify height" in
the Table Properties dialog box, you must also choose "Exactly" for "Row
height is."

Since it is the column width you seem to be attempting to control, did you
disable auto resizing?

You can still change the column width, but it will not change just because
you add text to the cells.

So how do i get the column width and rows to remain the same so they cannot
be dragged to alter?

For that you'll need to apply document protection (there are different
kinds). Are you saying that the document should be used as a form?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...nTheBlanks.htm and
especially the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.
But even in an unprotected document, if you have turned off auto resizing
and specified exact row heights and preferred column widths, the cell sizes
will not change just because you add text, though you will still be able to
resize them manually.
