Default Inserting image: only bottom of image visible

I have a document which I downloaded formatted as per a conference
specifications, and am now trying to insert images into it. However,
when I try to insert an image the image is either missing completely
or only the very bottom of it is visible; it seems to insert inline
with text (which I want) but it is "covered" by the text or whitespace
above it. I've tried inserting from a file and copy-paste from
another application to no avail. When I change the text wrapping to
"square" it works fine. Also when I copy-paste from another Word
document in which the figures are already it works fine (unless I
choose "match destination styles" on the paste in which case the same
problem happens). Any ideas?
Thanks much!!!

Thumbs up Answer: Inserting image: only bottom of image visible

Hi Niki,

It sounds like the issue you are experiencing is related to the text wrapping settings for your images. When an image is inserted inline with text, it can sometimes be covered by the text or whitespace above it if the text wrapping is set to "in line with text."

To fix this issue, you can try adjusting the text wrapping settings for your images. Here's how:
  1. Click on the image you want to adjust.
  2. In the "Format" tab that appears, click on the "Wrap Text" dropdown menu.
  3. Try selecting different text wrapping options, such as "Square" or "Tight," to see if they resolve the issue.
  4. If none of the other options work, try selecting "Behind Text" and then dragging the image to the desired location on the page.

If you find that the issue only occurs when you copy and paste images from other Word documents, it may be related to the formatting of the original document. In this case, you can try copying and pasting the image into a new Word document and then inserting it into your conference document.

The symptom of seeing only the bottom of the picture indicates that
the paragraph in which you're inserting it is set to an "exact" line
spacing. In the Format Paragraph dialog, change the spacing from
"exact" to "at least" to allow the line space to expand to the full
height of the inserted picture.

My guess would be that the line spacing for the paragraph in which it's
inserted is set to some "Exactly" amount. Right-click in the paragraph
containing the image and choose Paragraph. Set Line spacing: to something
other than Exactly.
