AutoText is stored in your normal.dot global template. If you saved a
document over normal.dot, or if you deleted normal.dot, then your
AutoText is gone. If you renamed your normal.dot to fix a Word problem
or for some other reaon, then you can use the Organizer tool in "Tools |
Templates and Addins" to transfer your AutoText from the old normal.dot
to the new normal.dot.

If Normal.dot has been deleted or renamed, it is usually for the purpose of
forcing Word to generate a fresh copy, which will actually correct this
problem (if the OP was referring to Word's built-in AutoText). If it was
user-created AutoText, then yes, it could be retrieved using the Organizer.
