Using Worddoc507 to create a report. I don't seem to be able to attach this
template to the report as it exisited before I purchased the template, is
this normal ?

You can do the following to attach a template: On the Tools menu,
click Templates and Add-Ins. Click the Template tab. Click Attach,
locate the file, and click OK. Check "Automatically update document
styles" and click OK.

Note that the "Automatically update..." option is sticky; that is, it
is saved with the document, which usually is not what you want.
Therefore, when the styles have updated, you should go back into the
dialog box and clear the option. Click OK. Make some change to the
document, such as adding and deleting a space, to ensure that it is
marked as modified, and then save.

Another thing to consider is that attaching a different template does
not add the contents of the new template (such as text, graphics, or
text boxes); and it won't change the page setup (such as margins),
either.

If you want to make use of such settings, do the following: First,
create a new file from your template, and then use Insert | File to
bring in the text of the existing document.
