Default auto format

asked question before but when I tried to open the email notification I got a
blank page.

When I try to select a portion in Woprd 2003 (bold, italic. underline,
indents, etc.) the change affects the entire documents. I've looked at Auto
format while you type and cant see any thing that would be causing that. Any
help?
