Default object caption auto numbering

I wish to add an object with its caption (auto caption I know..) so that the
caption will not be in a text box and that its numbers will change like auto
numbering, i.e. no only when I add a new object but when I replce two
existing objects between them

Default object caption auto numbering

Insert the object "In line with text" and then add the caption (via
Insert | Reference | Caption), in a separate text paragraph. If you
want to be able to wrap text around the object and caption, select
them and, on the Forms toolbar, click the Insert Frame button. To set
the properties of the frame, you can use Format | Frame.

Note that, in Word 2002/2003, you can set the default position for
objects in Tools | Options, Edit: In the "Insert/paste pictures as"
box, specify "In line with text."
