Default all lines change alignment when one line is changed.

Whenever I copy something from the internet and paste it into Word, and then
try to change the alignment or bold something the entire document changes
instesd of just the word or line I have highlighted.
This was happening with Office 2000 (just started about a month ago) and it
is alos happening now that I have installed 2003.
HELP!!!!
