Default Cannot Delete in Word doc

I cannot delete unwanted returns in a word document......The delete key is
working, but it will not remove return marks where I have split a table. Any
ideas???

You cannot delete the paragraph mark following a table, unless there are two
successive tables, in which case you can delete the mark of the first table
and merge the tables.

If the paragraph mark is forcing an extra, unwanted page, or if it just
occupies too much vertical space in the text, you can format it as hidden or
as 1 pt font size, with a line spacing of 1 pt and spacing before/after 0
pt. That should improve things. See also
