Word acting strange
Hi. Recently my MS word 2003 has started to act strange. Every 10th second it
goes kind of "offline" or "pause" for a second or two. While the "pause" the program does not respond to writing in realtime (or anything else I do). More accurately: if I keep writing during the "pause" text does not appeare on the screen. But after the "pause" is over text that I wrote during the pause appears. Also while the "pause" cursos changes to show me its waiting for something. It's like word is doing something that I don't know. So if anybody has any ideas what to do or what this about please tell me. I have norman antivirus on my computer and it found no viruses. Thanks / Tuomas |

This is probably a Norton AV issue. Checking of Word/Office documents can
usually be deselected in the AV program e.g. in Norton AV by turning off its Office Plug-in without compromise to system security With some versions of the Norton product it may be necessary to unregister the calling DLL by running the following command line from Windows Start Run regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll" or regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton antivirus\officeav.dll" -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Tumppi wrote: Hi. Hi and thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I don't think it is it. I disabled
the whole Norman AV and firewall but the behaviour still exists. So I guess search goes on... Any other ideas? I'm in the dark ;( "Graham Mayor" wrote: This is probably a Norton AV issue. This is not necessarily Word at all - anything that is running could lock
out Word (and other programs). Even if it is only Word which shows symptoms it does not mean Word is to blame. First off I would try rebooting. Then start Word before anything else and see if the problem still exists. If so, have a look in Task Manager and see if anything is taking a lot of CPU. -- Enjoy, Tony "Tumppi" wrote in message ... Word acting strange
Thanks. Rebooted many times, no luck there.
In taskmanager I have tried to look what's happening but have to say my understanding of what is happening there is very limited. It happens both in my settings and in my wifes settings. So it's not a user related, right? Any other ideas? "Tony Jollans" kirjoitti: This is not necessarily Word at all - anything that is running could lock out Word (and other programs). Unfortunately disabling some AV software - even uninstalling - does not
necessarily remove the links it had with Word and the dll that provides the checking can remain. I am not familiar with Norman AV so I do not know the filename in question. AV checking is the most likely explanation for your problem. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Tumppi wrote: Sorry, I have to bumb this.
