Default How do I fix the Normal.dot problem when the fix is already done

The system is continuously asking if I want to save the Normal.dot setting
even when I haven't changed anything. I upgraded to Office 2003 Professional
Edition recently and have started having all kinds of weird things happen.
Word will not allow me to change directories when saving documents and I
don't dare think of searching directories for another document once Word is
open - it locks up and then shuts down.

The computer is a stand alone, running Windows XP Professional. RAM is 1 G
and speed is 3.06Ghz.

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it (but don't disable Norton
AutoProtect). See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How
to use Office programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in"
and
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...514521033.aspx
"Word prompts me to save changes to the Normal.dot template" for
more information.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
