Default contents of dissertation

I am writing a dissertaion that comprises 10 chapters. I save each chapter as
a separate document as I find this the easiest way to organise my work.

I owould now like to produce a contents page the ecompasses all the headings
in all chapters but can't find a way to do this. Can this be done and am I
missing something here?

See this article:

Alternatively, insert the chapter files as links in a "master" document. See
