Default Word 2003 page numbering

If you have a Word document in 8 sections, and you insist on having the page
numbers go 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, then 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 based on section number,
is this possible? I can't seem to figure out a way.

Thank you,

Ray Costanzo

Hi Ray, long time no see. :-)

First, set each section to restart page numbering at 1. (Easiest way is to
open a header or footer, click the Format Page Number button on the
Header/Footer toobar, and click the setting in the dialog.)

At the place in the header or footer where you want the page number
displayed, insert two fields separated by a period:

{SECTION}.{PAGE}

This won't make it into a Table of Contents, though. For that you need John
McGhie's instructions in
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Number...pterNumber.htm.
