Default How do I undo "Read Only" files in word?

All of the Word Files I saved on a back up CD are marked "read only". Is
there a way I can reverse this so that I can save up-dated files over them?
When I "unclick" the read only box - I get an error message.

Thank you

Files on a CD are always "read only." When you copy them back to the HD, you
can select all the files, right-click, select Properties, and clear the Read
Only flag.
