Default how do I get rid of the annoyiny reference link on Word!!!???

Whenever I paste an image, type a hyperlink, or even insert table of
content or symbols like checkbox in box, the actual thing doesn't show!
Instead it is this annoying { } thing! I didn't came across this
problem in other computers. Anyone knows what setting in Word can I fix
to get rid this really annoying thing?
